Last September, the Global Innovation Index (GII) has ranked France the 11^th country in terms of innovation.

On September 21st, the Global Innovation Index published their annual ranking regarding innovation. France has reached the 11^th place among 132 countries, wining 10 places in only 6 years. Bruno Le Maire, the French Minister of the Economy, Finance, and the Recovery is delighted and indicated this result “attests the strength of our economy rebound (…) Our country has never developed that many promising young companies”.

France’s influence goes beyond innovation

France does not only shine in terms of innovation. Indeed, France distinguishes itself for its creativity: France has been named the 6^th most creative country in 2021 and has gained 7 places in comparison to 2020. Besides, France is the second European depositor of patents and ranks 5^th worldwide according to the European Patent Office.

Furthermore, France’s attractiveness increases to the point of being the first European country in the volume of foreign investors projects. These results are evidence of the growth of the French start-up ecosystem: the number of unicorns (start-up whose development exceeds $1 billion) has been multiplied by 6 since 2015.

To conclude, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the Minister Delegate for Industry, says that she “pays tribute to the endless progress of our country in this worldwide ranking of reference on innovation. It testifies the capacity of our country to produce and innovate, in an international competition which is even more fierce”.
