Bpifrance enters the capital of Yousign to develop the sovereign European electronic signature platform
Electronic signatures are today an essential tool for European businesses, facilitating and securing their cross-border transactions. Yousign, one of the European leaders in electronic signature, welcomes Bpifrance through its Digital Venture fund to its capital to support the deployment of a sovereign European electronic signature platform that meets the strictest compliance and security requirements.
A Strategic Partnership to Conquer Europe
The support of the public investment bank will enable Yousign to strengthen its position as a European leader in electronic signature with two main objectives:
Digital Sovereignty: To become a key player in digital sovereignty in Europe by offering an electronic signature solution that complies with the strictest security standards and the regulations of each country.
Sectorial Expansion: To accelerate its deployment among a broader range of companies, including major software publishers, and to strengthen its presence in highly regulated sectors such as notary services, healthcare, and finance.
In Europe, the majority of companies have digitized their contracting processes with their clients, commercial partners, and even employees. This efficiency gain carries a risk of exposure of critical data when Anglo-Saxon providers, whose data protection standards are less demanding than in Europe, are involved.
Yousign is the only European eIDAS certified player of sufficient scale to meet this need for European companies to guarantee, beyond the compliance of their agreements, a sovereign treatment of their strategic data. Bpifrance’s support fits into this context and illustrates the institutional challenge of the emergence of a sovereign European platform.
Yousign, European Leader in Electronic Signature
Founded in 2013, Yousign now has more than 20,000 clients in Europe (mainly in France, Germany, and Italy) and serves both professionals and individuals.
Yousign assists companies from the creation of documents (automated forms) to the signature (electronic signature, advanced electronic signature, qualified electronic signature, electronic seal) that meet European security requirements and legal recognition.
The French player aims to cover the entire contractual digitization chain by 2025. Yousign will achieve profitability of its business model in the same year.
Statement from Alban Sayag, CEO of Yousign: « We are delighted to welcome the Digital Venture fund of Bpifrance to our capital. This collaboration strengthens Yousign’s positioning among large institutional and private players with whom we are increasingly working. It also supports our desire to create a credible European alternative to the American giants in a sector that handles the most sensitive data of our companies. »
Statement from Clarisse Blandin, Investment Director in the Digital Venture teams at Bpifrance: « Yousign has demonstrated technological know-how and built an exceptional product, allowing it to take a leading position in electronic signature in Europe. The company offers a sovereign solution guaranteeing the protection of its customers’ data, while complying with the strictest security standards. We are very happy to announce our investment in Yousign, which aims to become the benchmark player in the contractual digitization chain.”
