The #MEETAfrica Forum, first get together for African Entrepreneurs in Europe

On February 11th, the first edition of the #MeetAfrica Forum was held at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. This economic event organized by Expertise France in partnership with the ANIMA Investment Network and co-financed by the European Union and the French Development Agency, brought together more than 3,000 participants.

During this day, dedicated to African entrepreneurs living in Europe and wishful to undertake business projects in Africa, several themes were addressed during the various seminars and conferences. Among them, workshops focused on specific sectors such as agribusiness, healthcare and digital led by panels of high-level speakers: business leaders, politicians, cultural actors, intellectuals, overall personalities from both continents.

Mainly, connecting talents to different development opportunities with entrepreneurial projects, companies, and investors. Also, accompanying them and project leaders to create and develop their socially impactful businesses in Africa.  It was also a great opportunity to reach investors through pitch competitions as well as networking sessions.

What is the #MEETAfrica Program?

The MEET Africa program was launched after an observation and  a desire shared by two continents. Africa is bursting with potential, and innovation and its European diaspora is a dynamic and legitimate relay. This program is part of the continuity of actions carried out for years by the European Union and its Member States, in particular France and Germany, to promote the dynamics of wealth and job creation in Africa.

Sebastien Pascaud from the Export division of Bpifrance states that « when undertaking on two different territories, more than ever the entrepreneur need to be surrounded and accompanied and for this purpose, there are many tools.” Indeed, the Meet Africa program follows the first stages of project development “then, comes in the support of important institutions like Bpifrance and its various supportive tools from creation to support of innovation or even acceleration of growth with its famous Accelerator programs.
