Internationalisation of European SMEs 2018

Bpifrance (France), the British Business Bank (United Kingdom), Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Italy), Instituto de Crédito Oficial (Spain) and KFW, (Germany) studied together to understand the reasons why European small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are less represented in international trade than in their own countries. On a national scale, they represent more than 50% of the added value and the two thirds of employment, but less than 30% of those companies export their goods and services, most of the time towards European countries, and only 3 % invested internationally.
